Getting There: An Easy Journey from Dubai

One of the most appealing aspects of Zighy Bay is just how accessible it is from the UAE. The resort is located in the Musandam Peninsula of Oman, only 2-2.5 hours by car from Dubai. There’s no need for a visa, and the resort arranges a simple border pass for you if you’re entering from the UAE, making the trip smooth and stress-free.

After a scenic drive through the Hajar mountains, guests are treated to a truly cinematic arrival, whether by 4x4 over the mountain pass, boat transfer, or even paragliding down to the beach (yes, it’s a real arrival option!). We just drove our car there, but if you want a more scenic arrival, you can land paragliding into the resort.

The Setting: A Private Hideaway Between Mountain and Sea

What makes Zighy Bay so special is its dramatic and remote setting. The resort is nestled between steep mountains and a wide sandy beach, offering total seclusion and a stunning contrast of desert and sea. The atmosphere is peaceful and deeply relaxing, with a rustic-chic aesthetic that feels natural and unpretentious.

From the moment you arrive, you sense that this is not a place for showy luxury, but rather for discreet, sustainable indulgence. You won’t see manicured lawns or gold finishes. Instead, the villas and buildings blend harmoniously into the natural surroundings using stone, timber, and earthy tones.

Our Stay in a Beachfront Pool Villa

We stayed in Villa 9, a Beachfront Pool Villa, and it was truly stunning. The villa offered direct beach access, a private garden, and a large pool, all steps from the sea. The layout was generous, with a spacious bedroom, indoor and outdoor showers, a shaded terrace, and plenty of lounging areas.

The design blends traditional Omani village architecture with modern comfort. Stone walls, natural materials, and soft lighting create a tranquil, grounded feel. The bed was very comfortable, and waking up to views of the sea each morning was a dream.

If you’re planning a special occasion, honeymoon, or simply want a private retreat, we can’t recommend the beachfront pool villas enough. The feeling of space, serenity, and being connected to nature is something rare to find.

Dining – A Culinary Highlight of the Stay

If there’s one thing that deserves special mention in this review of Six Senses Zighy Bay, it’s the food. Every single meal, from breakfast to dinner, was a highlight.

Breakfast is served at the Spice Market and offers an impressive buffet with both Western and Arabic specialties. Everything was of incredibly high quality, from the fresh fruit and juices to homemade pastries, live egg stations, and traditional Omani dishes.

Lunch can be taken at the Summer House or down by the beach, and again, the variety and quality are exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the fresh seafood and refreshing cold starters, perfect for the hot midday temperatures. If you like Oysters, make sure to try them! They are coming from just a few kilometers away.

For dinner, you have multiple options including the romantic Sense on the Edge, set on a cliff with breathtaking views. But even the themed dinners and buffets served at the main restaurant were outstanding. Local flavors are integrated beautifully with international cuisines, and there’s plenty to satisfy all dietary preferences.

In short, this is a resort for food lovers. Everything we tried exceeded expectations.

Spa & Wellness

As with all Six Senses properties, wellness is a big part of the experience and we of course had to cover this aspect in this in-depth review of Six Senses Zighy Bay. We booked a signature massage at the spa, and it was one of the best we’ve had from the brand (which is saying a lot, since Six Senses spas are consistently excellent).

The spa setting is serene, surrounded by palm trees and designed to feel like a village within the resort. Treatment rooms are large and private, and the staff are warm, professional, and attentive to detail. The spa menu includes everything from traditional massages to wellness screenings, detox programs, and holistic rituals.

The gym is also excellent, equipped with modern machines and a separate outdoor area for stretching or yoga. Whether you’re looking for a full fitness regime or a quick morning workout, the facilities are top-notch.

Pools & Cooling Off

Zighy Bay and Oman in general gets hot, especially between May and October, and the resort has made sure guests can still enjoy their time comfortably. In addition to the private villa pools, the resort has two large communal pools, both beautifully designed and surrounded by shaded lounging areas.

We spent time at both during the afternoons, and it was a great way to cool off while enjoying drinks from the poolside bar. The atmosphere around the pools is quiet and relaxing, ideal for reading or taking a nap.

Activities – Paragliding, Adventures, and More

For those looking for more than relaxation, Zighy Bay offers a wide range of activities, from hiking and scuba diving to cruises and cooking classes. But the most unforgettable experience we had was definitely paragliding over the mountains and landing right on the beach.

It was our first time doing it, and the resort made the entire experience feel safe and fun. The views from above were absolutely surreal, and it’s something we’d recommend to anyone staying at the property.

Other fun activities include mountain biking, kayaking, and cinema under the stars. Whether you're the adventurous type or simply want to take in the beauty of the location in a new way, there's something for everyone.

The Service – Discreet & Attentive

Before concluding this review of Six Senses Zighy Bay, let’s talk about what made our stay so special: the service.

One of the consistent strengths of Six Senses properties is the service, and Zighy Bay is no exception. From our private GEM (Guest Experience Maker) to the restaurant staff and spa therapists, every team member was kind, thoughtful, and incredibly attentive.

Service here is more discreet than showy, but it’s always effective. Whether we needed our bikes adjusted, special dietary requests at breakfast, or guidance on booking activities, the staff always delivered with warmth and efficiency.
