About Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru: What you need to know

As always, let's start this review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru with a few important information to know about this 5* ultra luxury resort in the Maldives.

Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru is located in Baa Atoll, a short seaplane transfer from Male airport will bring you to this beautiful island.

With only 103 villas spread across a fairly big island, it offers very good privacy, particularly if you go for beach villas. As we will see during this review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, the overwater villas are a bit closer and with not such high level of privacy when you are on your terrace.

As always with Four Seasons, you'll get to enjoy top level service, delicious food, all this while admiring the beautiful sandbank near BLU restaurant. Be aware, this is one of the most expensive resorts in the maldives. So if you are ready, let's dive in and start this comprehensive review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru.

Transfers & Arrival

The journey to Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru starts with a short 35-minute seaplane flight from Malé, followed by a quick 3-minute speedboat ride. The seaplane lands on a floating platform a little away from the island, to reduce disturbance for guests staying at the resort.

On arrival, the team from Four Seasons was already waiting for us at the jetty with a warm welcome. A welcome drink was served immediately, and someone from the team escorted us by buggy straight to our villa, making the whole arrival process smooth and stress-free.

Our villas at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru

One question that we receive very often when it comes to the Maldives is: should I stay in a beach or overwater villa?

Well, there is no clear answer to that, even though, for us, overwater are the true DNA of the Maldives and therefore, we like to recommend them.

Still, during our trips at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, we got to experience both the sunset overwater villas and sunset beach villas. Both are absolutely amazing. The design is great and they both come with a huge 12m long pool overlooking the ocean (for overwater) or the beach/ocean for the beach villas.

We would strongly recommend anyone visiting Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru to aim for the sunset side. Yes, it is more expensive, but it is totally worth the extra dollars.

A beautiful (pretty) big island

If you like super small islands, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru might not be for you. Indeed, in this next part of our review, we are going to talk about the size of the island.

Even though it's not as big as some competitors like Soneva Jani (which we find way too big), it is considered as pretty big. Yet, with only a bit more than 100 villas, it does not mean that you are going to see the crowd. On the opposite. As the island is so big for so little villas, everything is well spread, which is very enjoyable. Still, this is not what we like best when it comes to island size. Something smaller, like Anantara Kihavah, is a bit more suitable in these regards.

Let alone the size of the island, it is really beautiful. Particularly the beach side between Al Barakat and BLU restaurants. This is absolutely perfect with big stretch of white sandy beach and crystal clear water.

The Reef: well...which reef?

As you may know, when we review a resort, something that is always very important for us is the quality of the house reef. So, how is it at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru? Can you reall enjoy some good snorkeling? As your favorite travel agent for the Maldives, we've of course tested that for you.

Unfortunately, this is definitely not where Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru will impress you. The snorkeling is close to non-existent. This is pretty sad for Baa Atoll, particularly when compared to the reefs of Anantara Kihavah, Milaidhoo or even Soneva Fushi.

If snorkeling is your main focus and you like to spend 2h everyday exploring the reef, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru might not be the right option for you. There are many much better resorts in the Maldives with real house reefs.

Yet, if you are a diver, you'll get access to tons of amazing dive spots within 20-30min boat ride of the resort. So, don't take Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru out of your list too soon!

The dining outlets at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru

Let's continue this review with the dining options at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru.

As very often (if not always) the food at Four Seasons is delicious. We particularly love Al Barakat, not only for the quality of the food, but also for the atmosphere.

BLU is absolutely lovely for breakfast and for lunch, but we are not huge fans of their dinner menu.

Finally, the main restaurant (Café Landaa) and Fuego Grill are "ok".

By the way, talking about food, make sure to take half board when booking at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru. We always have great deals for our clients with (very often) free upgrade from bed&breakfast to Half Board. If you pay A La Carte at dinner, expect an average of USD 300-400 for 2 people every night.

The Main Pools

An other important area to cover in this in-depth review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru are the pools of the resort, as they are key highlights.

Landaa Giraavaru has not one but two main pools, each with a distinct atmosphere. The most iconic pool is at BLU restaurant, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Maldives. The endless blues of the lagoon make this pool one of the most photogenic spots at the resort and one of our personal favorites in the country.

The second pool is more understated, located further into the island. It is long and straight, perfect for swimming laps. This pool tends to be quieter and less dramatic but is a great option for those who want to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere or keep up with their fitness routine in the water.

The Sandbank: the key selling point of Landaa Giraavaru

If there is something we love among all other things at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, it is without a doubt the unreal sandbank.

It is just too beautiful to be true.

Take a kayak for a few minutes and head to the sandbank where you will most likely be alone in a true paradise. This place really makes you scratch your eyes to be sure that what you are seeing is real.

Without the sandbank, our review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru would not be that amazing. But it definitely comes to complete an already excellent overall rating.

The Spa & Gym

The spa at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru is one of the resort’s key highlights. It is divided into two areas: a serene garden section and an overwater section. Unfortunately, during our stay the overwater spa was under renovation, so we had our 60-minute signature massage in one of the beautiful garden treatment rooms. While we missed the chance to enjoy treatments over the lagoon, the quality of the massage and the peaceful setting still made for a memorable spa experience.

The gym is modern, spacious, and well-equipped, with plenty of machines and weights to allow for a complete workout. In addition, guests have access to outdoor facilities including tennis courts, ensuring that there are plenty of ways to stay active. The overall wellness offering is strong, and for many guests this resort is one of the best to balance relaxation and activity.

An excellent service, as always

It is no surprise that the service at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru is absolutely excellent. Is it even worth reviewing it?

Everyone always greets you with a big smile. Everyone is super professional. They would often call you by your name and, of course, know your habits after just a few nights at the resort.

The service is key to a good experience in the Maldives, and Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru does not disappoint.

Value for money at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru

When it comes to value for money, Landaa Giraavaru is not the strongest option in the Maldives. The overall experience is very good, but the pricing is among the highest in the country. While the villas, service, and dining are all excellent, the final bill can be eye-watering once drinks, excursions, and extras are added.

If value is your top priority, we would not list Landaa Giraavaru as one of the best resorts in the Maldives for value for money. But if you want a resort that is consistent in quality, backed by the Four Seasons name, and set on one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives, then it may still be worth it.

Who is this resort for?

Before concluding this review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, let’s answer one important question: who is this resort for?

Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru is a versatile resort that works very well for families and couples alike. Families will love the large and beautiful beaches, the excellent kids’ club, and the huge beach villas that are perfect for those traveling with children. Couples and honeymooners will also find plenty to love here: the sheer natural beauty of the island makes it a very romantic choice.

Unlike some of its competitors, Landaa does not rely on unique “wow” features such as an underwater restaurant or an underwater spa. Instead, its strengths are in its authentic island beauty, large villas, and consistently high-quality service and dining. It’s a perfect resort for guests who want to combine natural beauty with Four Seasons’ reputation for hospitality.

Conclusion: it is expensive, but it is lovely

To conclude this review of Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, we need to comment on the price. This resort is among the most expensive in the Maldives. Selling at around $4500+ per night in low season for a Sunset overwater pool villa in half board. So yes, it is extremely expensive and not in everyone's budget.

But the real question is: is it worth it? And the answer would be YES! If you are not sure about staying a whole week, or more, you can always split your stay with a more affordable luxury resort nearby like Anantara Kihavah or Milaidhoo. That way, you get to experience Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru without spending too much.

If you want to know more about the resort or get a quote with our very competitive rates, do not hesitate to contact us and we'll be more than happy to assist you.
